Eyelid Surgery
Because the skin around the eyes is so delicate and thin, it is one of the first areas of the face to show the signs of aging, like sagging and wrinkling. Dr. Glen Brooks is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has nearly 30 years of surgical experience. Women and men visit him for eyelid surgery in Massachusetts to look younger and more refreshed than they have in years.
Your Improvements
Your eyes are one of the first things people notice about you, so enhancing your eyelids can make a significant improvement in how others see you and how you look at yourself. Women and men from the Springfield area choose eyelid surgery to enhance the area immediately surrounding the eyes. Improvements can include:
- Lifting sagging upper eyelids
- Correcting wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet)
- Reducing unwanted fat deposits on upper and lower eyelids
- Restoring peripheral vision
When sagging upper eyelids obscure your peripheral vision, your medical insurance might cover the cost of your eyelid surgery. Providers often require screening by an eye doctor or ophthalmologist before determining if the procedure qualifies as medically necessary, instead of elective.
Your Unique Plan
Choosing an experienced plastic surgeon like Dr. Brooks can ease the uncertainty about your facial enhancement as he offers his patients a variety of treatment options. To attain your desired improvements, you might require a brow lift in addition to, or instead of, eyelid surgery.
At your consultation, Dr. Brooks gives you time to describe what you’d like to change about your appearance; he will then explain your options and put together a treatment plan customized for you. This might include BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments for forehead wrinkles or crow’s feet around the eyes.

Meet Dr. BrooksWhat to Expect
Dr. Brooks usually performs eyelid surgery as an outpatient procedure while the patient is under conscious sedation. The incisions are hidden along the natural crease of the upper eyelids, and along the lower eyelash line or inside the lower eyelids.
Eyelid Surgery Recovery
Swelling and bruising will last for about the first week after surgery, but can be minimized by keeping your head elevated and using cold compresses for the first few days. While experiences vary, most patients are ready to resume their regular everyday activities, including work, after about 10 days. You will need to avoid strenuous activity and wearing contact lenses for about 2 to 4 weeks.
Results
With a refreshed eye area, many of Dr. Brooks’ eyelid surgery patients are thrilled to look as young as they feel. Often their self confidence is enhanced as well. When performed by a skilled surgeon, this procedure can accomplish what no amount of sleep or make-up can do. Dr. Brooks strives to provide lasting enhancements that exceed his patients’ expectations.
